As of October 14, 2024, after years of championing women in decision-making and leadership roles within sustainability, we are proud to formally announce a significant evolution in our mission: placing women’s leadership at the heart of everything we do.​

Why This Shift Matters: Women’s leadership in sustainability is not just a goal; it is a necessity. For example, women are at the forefront of the fight against climate change, driving innovative solutions and pushing for more equitable outcomes. However, to further combat the ongoing climate crisis, we need more women in positions of leadership. The challenges we face today—climate change, social inequities, and economic disruptions—require diverse and inclusive leadership. Research shows that when women lead, solutions are more innovative, effective, and equitable. This understanding has inspired us to transform our approach, ensuring that women’s voices and leadership are amplified in every initiative, article, and project we undertake.

Our New Mission & Expanded Focus: Our renewed mission is clear - "Transforming the environment and economy for a sustainable future through the power of women's leadership." This focus reflects our belief that empowering women leaders is key to achieving a sustainable future that benefits all.

Alignment with SDGs and WEPs: This shift in focus and expansion builds upon our existing commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and now integrates the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). By aligning these global frameworks, we are doubling down on our dedication to fostering social and environmental justice through gender-inclusive leadership.

Our Awards Program: As part of our unwavering commitment to advancing women’s leadership in sustainability, we launched the Global 50 Women In Sustainability Awards™ in 2022. This annual awards program recognizes women from around the world who are making extraordinary contributions to sustainability, social equity, and responsible leadership.

Over the years, this program has become a cornerstone of our mission, aligning with our broader shift towards the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs). By celebrating women who are driving transformative change across sectors and industries, we not only amplify their voices but also promote bold leadership that prioritizes both sustainability and gender equality.
