"This award means a tremendous amount to me because of the recognition it provides to women working towards sustainable and equitable solutions all over the world. The timelines towards positive outcomes are years or decades within the field of sustainability. It is often thankless or criticized by people fighting for the status quo. People have a deep need to be recognized along the journey, not just at the final destination. This is an important light to shine on women in our field and a boost to help them find the will to keep going." - Lindsey Boyle, Strategist & Founder, Circular Citizen Consulting, Canada
Lindsey, the visionary behind Circular Citizen Consulting, embodies the spirit of sustainable innovation and inclusivity. Her diverse experiences as a business leader, researcher, board director, and speaker are complemented by her roles as a mother, dancer, and outdoor enthusiast. At the heart of Lindsey's work is a dream to foster equitable climate solutions and prioritize nature above all.
Her journey in sustainability is marked by her efforts to integrate circularity and human-centered design into product and service innovation, significantly impacting carbon emissions, waste, and biodiversity loss. With over two decades of experience in strategic marketing for consumer packaged goods and as an insights agency partner, Lindsey has honed her skills in market research, making her a sought-after expert in the field.
As a co-founder and Board Chair of the Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture, Lindsey's passion for food and sustainable agriculture shines through. She's currently focused on generating market insights to transition consumer food brands to nature-positive, regenerative farming practices.
Based in Vancouver Island, BC Canada, Lindsey's work is deeply rooted in her respect and acknowledgment of the unceded territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ people. She believes that women leaders are crucial in driving sustainable development, capable of multitasking and focusing on solutions that benefit not just themselves but the broader community.
Confronted with the stark reality of climate change in 2018, Lindsey's dedication to the cause grew. Despite challenges like figuring out her 'product-market fit' and feelings of isolation during the pandemic, she has persisted, driven by a desire to effect meaningful change.
Lindsey advocates for gender equality and inclusivity within sustainability, challenging the status quo in initiatives and conferences by promoting women and underrepresented groups. Through Circular Citizen Consulting, she ensures that contracts favor services from diverse businesses, striving to balance the scales of opportunity and representation.
Her unique approach leverages creativity and storytelling to engage people emotionally with sustainability issues. She emphasizes the need for more women in leadership roles within the sustainability sector and calls for more incentives for men to support this shift.
For Lindsey, self-care is integral to maintaining her drive and passion. She finds solace in nature, dance, and spending time with her family, ensuring she stays rejuvenated to continue her impactful work.
Receiving this award is not just a personal honor for Lindsey but a recognition of the collective efforts of women globally working toward sustainable and equitable solutions. It serves as a motivation for her and others in the field to persevere despite the challenges, continually striving to innovate and bring about positive change in sustainability.
